At 44 Laohutou, Jiangning Road in the southeast of Nanjing, there is an old house built under the reign of emperor Guangxu in the Qing dynasty. In its vicinity stands a stone-platform historically renowned as "Zhou Chu's Reading Platform." In fact, it was originally the hall (Ziyin Hall) of Zhou Chu (He styled himself as Ziyin living in a period from 240 to 297, a native of Yixing, Jiangsu province) when he served as the chief li-brarian of the State Wu. In the Ming dynasty, Gu Qiyuan, a scholar in Nanjing, misnamed it as "Zhou Xiaohou's Reading Platform" (After his death in a battle at the age of 57, Zhou Chu was later appointed as "Xiaohou", a devoted officer). Since then, people in Nanjing have all along been using this name.
